Part two of the specific systems on the Panzer II " Luchs" builds.
This will take us from week 28 through week 48, May 6th through Sept 12th.
The second installment is Engine, Radiator and fans (be cool). As before there might be some earlier photos of the engine and build, so go back and take a look.

View of the Luchs fans from a computerized drawing (model).

Luchs engine, radiators and fans (Samur), how to potentially reproduce this with modern components.

Building the little air box to attach the carb.

Oil filter

Intake and exhaust pipes.

Need a big fuel tank for the International Harvester RD450, they are thirsty...

Fuel tank with filter and pump.

Another view of the lovely scratch built tank.

Just enough space.

Engine and fuel tank in position.

Exhaust, a thing of beauty.

Engine out, now to fit the radiators and fans.

Pulley mounted to the wall

Reinforcement for the rear idlers and bracket for the fans/radiators

Coming along

Larger radiators and fans than in Luchs 1.0, need to keep that engine cool.

Starting to come together.

Engine back in to get the pulley system and alternator in the correct position.

Piping for the radiators

So how do you drain the radiators for a flush or coolant change? good question...

Just like on the original Luchs the radiators drain down to the floor with an access panel.

Newly made brackets for the pulley and alternator.

This looks about right.

Looking like this will work just great.

Finished product...far as we can go for now until the engine deck is on. Then will add the shrouds and finish work.

Waiting for the next bits to finish up, before the hull will be taken apart, primed and painted...
